Another Successful Prostate Cancer UK Walk for CCWFC

In sizzling heat, 27 of us joined folk from Essex Cricket Seniors today to do ‘Ron’s Walk’ in support of Prostate Cancer UK.

For those who are not aware, Ron Headley is a prostate cancer survivor who has now raised in excess of £70,000 over the past 4 years by walking in every cricket county.

This year, our walking football club contributed over £1,200 to this specific fund-raiser (£6,000 over the last 4 years). We have now raised in excess of £17,000 for Prostate Cancer UK over the last 5 years – a tremendous effort.

Whilst it is important to raise cash for research, our greater contribution is in raising awareness about the disease and encouraging folk to get tested!

Here’s a link to a video compilation of the event

Well done to everyone who walked today and to those who have generously donated.

Walking football is certainly more than kicking a ball !

With very best wishes
