Well, it rained and it blew, but nothing dampened John Green’ 80th Birthday Tournament Celebration!! 33 cub Members braved the conditions to mark John’ celebration.
There were 5 teams – The Ever Greens ; Forest Green; Jolly Green Giants; The Green Hornets; and The Green Machine. The Ever Greens , who were already one short and then went two short, were very grateful for a couple of ‘ringers’ from the ‘resting’ teams!
The Green Hornets and The Green Machine battled it out for second place, both on 7 points, both with a goal difference of 1 (and the same goals scored), it went to the Green Hornets who won their head-to-head with The Green machine!
The clear winners were The Ever Greens, with 3 wins and a draw, on 10 points.
Of course, the big winner on the day was club spirit , once again showing that Chelmsford City Qalking Football is more than kicking a ball.
John got made a fuss of as these pics show. We also put together a nice video, celebrating John’ time at the club and his day. Thank you to everyone who has supported John’ day and I’m sure that you will all join me in wishing John a very happy 80th birthday!!
