We are all very fortunate to still be playing football at our age.
Some of us like the truly recreational version of what we do, some like a competitive tussle at training, others still like to compete for medals & trophies (even World Cups!!) It doesn’t matter where you sit in this spectrum, we are all playing to the same game with the same rules.
It is helpful from time to time to reflect on this and make sure that we are. Understanding the rules and applying them consistently is the path to a better, safe , and more enjoyable game. To help support this ,we have undertaken a revision of our club guidance on playing walking football. It is a practical guide to getting the basics right.
I invite you to spend 6-7 mins to view the video guide to How to Play Walking Football
You can also Download a Copy of the Guide by going go to ‘file’ in your browser, and just click ‘save as’.
The video and guide are a great refresher for all of us and are particularly valuable for newer club members who are learning the game. Of course, these things don’t happen by themselves , so a few thank you’ –
Peter Osborne – for producing /reviewing text descriptions relating to the laws of the game
Spencer Pratten – participating in producing live examples for the guidance ; and for the introduction
John Stratton – for the refereeing contribution
Chris Jullings – for the photography
Bob Willis – for the video work and for producing the video and guide
The committee – for reviewing draft versions.
That was starting to get a bit like the Star Wars credits, which were longer than the film!!
Finally, it would be great to have your feedback on the video / guide so that we can maintain continuous improvement. Watch the video , download the guide, make sure that you understand the basics of the game
With best wishes
