CCWF Win Second Round of WFA Cup

The over 50 Clarets got drawn at home against Norwich in the WFA national cup – a challenging tie! To put it in context , we haven’t beaten Norwich in 5 years at any age group , and they came with 4 internationals!!

Ashley Reid put the Clarets ahead early on but the Canaries pulled it back to 1-1 before half time.

The second half saw considerable Norwich possession but resolute defending and a great goalkeeping display kept it at 1-1. The game went straight to penalties.

Both sides took ten , yes ten penalties, with Chelmsford eventually winning 6-5. A video of some of the games highlights is available in the Video Section of our website

Jeremy Porter had a spectacular game in goal , pulling off a string of saves and saving 4 of the 10 penalties.

The lads have earnt a place in the East regional final against Sleaford – one more win and it’s a place in the national finals in September.
