Our club has once again played a significant part in supporting a charity event.
CCWFC entered 3 of the 14 teams that competed in the Basildon MIND tournament , an important local charity bringing much needed support to those experiencing mental health challenges.
Our club helped contribute to raising £2650.
Of course, there was also some footie. Chelmsford City Blues put up a brave fight against some very stiff opposition in the form of Bexley, Cheshunt, and Leyton Orient, but sadly a bridge too far. Chelmsford City Clarets 2 played very well, winning 1 and narrowly losing 2, great football but not enough to progress to the semi – finals.
Chelmsford City Clarets 1 played exceptionally well , winning 3 games, and drawing 1 in their group , they then beat in Ely in their semi-final. They played Bexley in the final, sadly losing 2-0 in a game decided by some perplexing refereeing decisions (when in doubt blame the ref)

The boys ended up very credible runners – up in the tournament, a great squad effort!! Well done to everyone who pulled on the Chelmsford shirt yesterday, you did the club proud on the pitch and importantly, you once again showed that we have very big hearts.
The real winners yesterday were those who will benefit from the support that the MIND charity can bring to those experiencing mental health challenges.
