Very Successful Night at Chelmsford City Ground
Last night, Friday 7th November Chelmsford City Football Foundation and main club ran a ‘Movember’ event raising awareness about men’ health. It was a combination of awareness raising , storytelling, and great fun.
Peter Peirrzak (Consultant Urologist at Nuffield Health) shared his professional views of prostate health issues and answered a range of questions.
Mike Hardwick, Louis Dunn, Tom Lapslie, and Joe Grimwood then shared their personal stories about coping with prostate cancer and the mental challenges presented by injuries in professional football.
It was not only courageous but it was an act of kindness to share difficult challenges that might help others.
We then took to the hallowed turf , with 5 teams battling it out for the ‘Movember 2025’ challenge cup.

It was a great mix of teams , with 2 from our walking footie club; a club coaches’ team (plus sons) ; a team from FC Vilomah ( a charity supporting fathers who have experience the loss of a child); and a fans side.
Reassuringly the club coaches team won it, which means the first team is in very good hands!!
Of course, the real victory on the night was men’s health – we all learnt a little bit more; we all talked a little more; and we all had fun. All of the team photos are on our Facebook page.
