CCWF Celebrate Another Year of Club Success at AGM

Over 40 members attended our Annual General Meeting at the Chelmsford City Club House, tempted by a sausage and chips lunch

Before the AGM we had one of the largest training session with members of all age groups

The AGM was in part a piece of governance, in part a celebration of our club’s progress. We have grown from 67 members in March 2021 to the current 165 members (and growing). We have re-established our o50’ presence with 40 members now under 60 and two teams playing in the Essex Walking Football League (EWFL)

Success on the pitch has broadened with the o50’, o60’, and o65’ clarets all winning silverware in the past year. Four of our seven teams are currently contesting championship and promotion places in the EWFL and our o65’ Clarets will be at their second WFA national cup finals. Closer to home, both our recreational walking football and refereeing initiatives are gathering momentum.

Our contribution to the community continues to grow with over £14,000 donated to Prostate Cancer UK and a growing involvement in the CCFC Football Foundation.

Perhaps most importantly we clearly demonstrate that we have created a strong network of support for each – no one walks alone. For the first year, we introduced clubman and player of the year awards. This year they were agreed by the committee , but in future years it will be a combination of a membership vote and the committee.

Both Chris Obank and Malcolm Cresswell received clubman of the year awards, whilst Matt Freeman was named player of the year – all very well deserved. Chris & Malcolm were also jointly named as the two club members with the most attendances at training – they both had 83 during the year.

The AGM was another important stocktake that shows the club is going from strength to strength.

Thank you contributing to a vibrant and enjoyable club.
